Ahead of the second Test between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium starting October 10, head coach Gautam Gambhir has reportedly invited the entire squad and support staff for dinner at his Delhi residence on Wednesday evening.
According to sources, Gambhir is set to host the dinner in his garden area as an open-air gathering, for the players to relax and bond ahead of the contest. However, the event could be cancelled if rain disrupts the capital’s weather. This will be one of Gambhir’s first major off-field gestures since taking over as India’s head coach.
The hosts are 1-0 up in the two-match series after a dominant win in the first Test at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. India defeated West Indies by an innings and 140 runs, thanks to clinical performances from Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Dhruv Jurel, all of whom notched centuries.

Jadeja also picked up eight wickets across both innings to earn the Player of the Match award, while Mohammed Siraj (seven wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (three wickets) made crucial contributions with the ball. Meanwhile, the West Indies were bowled out for 162 and 146 in their two innings, while India declared at 448/5.
With the second Test scheduled in the capital city, the players are expected to train at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 8 before heading to Gambhir’s residence later in the evening. India currently sits third in the ICC World Test Championship standings, with three wins, a draw, and two losses. The team will look to clean sweep the series and gain important points before moving to the overseas tour.
