IND vs SA 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal picks most hard-working player in Indian team, it’s not Virat Kohli

During his illustrious career, Virat Kohli has been the epitome of hard work and his determination to be the best version of himself day in and day out remains inspirational. Even at the age of 37, Kohli is among the fittest cricketers in the sport, running between the wickets like lightning and diving around in the field to save runs and take important catches.

However, talented opener Yashasvi Jaiswal picked Shubman Gill as the hardest-working player in the Indian team. Shubman is India’s captain in Tests and ODIs. Many believe that he has the tools to become the next batting superstar for the Men in Blue. However, sometimes his cricketing skills overshadow his resounding work ethic.

Yashasvi revealed that Shubman is very particular about his routine and mentioned that he enjoys watching and playing alongside the Punjab batter.

“Shubman Gill. I have seen him very closely recently. He works hard a lot, and is also very consistent with his routines. (He) works a lot on his fitness, diet, skills and training. It is unbelievable. I enjoy a lot watching him and playing with him. He is an amazing man as well,” Jaiswal said on Aaj Tak.

“He batted superbly and sensibly during the England Test series. We believed in him that he will perform in every situation,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performance against South Africa

In the Test series against South Africa, India suffered a 0-2 whitewash. This was India’s first series defeat to the Proteas in 25 years. Yashasvi, who entered the assignment with an average of over 50, scored just 83 runs from four innings.

The Mumbai batter got an opportunity to play the subsequent ODI series against South Africa after Shubman sustained a neck injury. He aggregated scores of 18 and 22 in the first two ODIs in Ranchi and Raipur. However, in the third and final ODI, the 23-year-old smashed his maiden century in the format. His unbeaten 116 off 121 balls helped India clinch the series 2-1.
