India will look to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series when they take on England in the third T20I at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday, January 28.
In the first T20I at the Eden Gardens, India dominated England and registered a comfortable seven-wicket win, chasing down a 133-run target in merely12.5 overs. The second T20I was a closely-contested affair but India eked out a win by two wickets with four balls to spare on the back of Tilak Varma’s gritty half-century.
On that note, let us take a look at three players from the Indian team who can make a huge impact in the third T20I.
3. Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy has been in sensational form since he has returned to the international scene. In the 2024-25 season, the mystery spinner has played nine T20Is and picked up 22 wickets at an average of 12.36.
The Tamil Nadu cricketer has picked up five wickets at an average of 12.20 from two games in the series so far. Chakaravarthy has the ability to pick wickets inside the powerplay and also in the middle overs. Suryakumar Yadav has used him quite well and he has repaid the faith shown in him.
2. Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson came into the series on the back of some fine performances in the shortest format for India. The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter notched up three T20I centuries in the space of five matches in the latter stages of 2024, becoming the first batter to score three centuries in the format in a calendar year.
In the first two T20Is against England, Samson has not done justice to his potential. In the first match, he looked good, hitting four fours and a six en route to a 20-ball 26 but could not convert his start into anything substantial. In the second game, he was dismissed for just five runs.
1. Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma did not get to bat in the first T20I. However, he played a match-winning knock of 72 off 55 in the second game even as wickets kept falling around him during India’s chase of 166. The southpaw showed nerves of steel to guide India hope.
Tilak has been in stunning form in T20 cricket. He scored back-to-back centuries in the T20 series against South Africa last year. The Hyderabad batter will be riding high on confidence after his recent performances for the T20 World Cup champions.
