IND vs AUS: Only two attend press conference ahead of T20I series opener

India recently played in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where they were defeated by Australia in the final by six wickets. The tournament generated a tremendous buzz worldwide, which was reflected in the extensive media coverage with over 200 media personnel present at various events.

However, during a recent pre-match conference, Suryakumar was surprised to find only two media representatives in attendance. As a first-time captain, this was unexpected for Surya, and it raises the question of whether this is a record for the lowest attendance at a press conference in India.

From 200 odd media people (during World Cup) to just two in press conference in India is
staggering!

SKY wouldn’t have imagined this in his firstPC as captain.

Is this a record with fewest attendance in a press conference in India?
I would imagine so. pic.twitter.com/O41WbIUKla
