Ahead of the much-awaited India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 clash, set to take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Pakistan’s speedster Shaheen Afridi has made his intentions clear regarding his goals for the match as he has vowed to take selfies only after picking five wickets against India in the epic encounter.

Pakistan’s team is in Ahmedabad just before the high-tension affair. The team was engaged in fielding drills, with everyone in action. Shaheen, after finishing his bowling and fielding drills, was seen making his way out of the ground. While at the boundary line, he was blocked by reporters and fans vying for selfies, to which he replied, “Zaroor selfie loonga, but five wicket lene ke baad (I will definitely take one, but only after I’ve claimed five wickets)”, as quoted by RevSportz.

Pakistan sweat it out on field ahead of epic encounter

A group of ten players, which included Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan, Abdullah Shafique, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Hasan Ali, were partnered up for fielding practice. Aftab Khan, the fielding coach, oversaw the session, utilizing a small stump as a target for the players to target. The level of intensity grew with each exercise, and the players’ camaraderie was clearly visible.

They celebrated each other’s accurate throws and provided encouragement when a throw at the stump missed its mark. The most captivating aspect of the training session revolved around the extensive bowling practice featuring the spinners. Morne Morkel, serving as the bowling coach, led a session with Shadab Khan, Mohammed Nawaz, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Agha Salman, focusing on honing a specific length.

Positioned behind the stumps, Morkel closely monitored the spinners’ performance. They had two small mats placed at the 4-meter and 6-meter distances, with a red marker in between. The objective was to refine their skills in a manner that would effectively challenge the in-form Indian batters.
