Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha surprised everyone with his take on Abhishek Sharma’s availability for the upcoming India versus Pakistan match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The game will be played on Sunday, February 15, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, and it is not sure whether the Indian opener will be taking part in the upcoming clash between the arch-rivals.
For the unversed, Abhishek missed India’s match against Namibia owing to a stomach infection. The Indian dressing room is not completely sure whether he will be match-ready for the Colombo encounter, with concerns surrounding his health. Agha, meanwhile, wants the attacking India batter to be ready, as he wants to face a full-strength Indian unit.
“I really hope Abhishek Sharma will play tomorrow. He is a good player, and we want to play against the best team they have. Really hope he’s recovering well and can play,” Agha said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
Need to play good cricket to win: Agha
Furthermore, Agha also said that the team has been in some good sort of momentum, having beaten the Netherlands and the United States of America in both of their Group A matches thus far. The Men in Green have played both their matches in Colombo, and Agha believes that it has helped the side get acclimatised to the conditions better.
“We are in good momentum, and I hope that being in Colombo since the start will help us in terms of getting used to the conditions. But we have to play good cricket to win the match,” Agha expressed.
Meanwhile, there is a sixty-five per cent chance of rain on Sunday in Colombo, which has literally had dark clouds looming over the scheduled happening of the match. However, by the time the sun sets, the precipitation chances go significantly down, which can be a huge sigh of relief for both the teams as well as the fans around the world.
