Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel shared a heartfelt moment with Mohammed Siraj, the Player of the Match from the fifth and final Test against England at the Kennington Oval. Siraj played a pivotal role in India’s dramatic victory, which helped level the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2.

In a selfie video that went viral, Jurel, who replaced the injured Rishabh Pant in the XI, declared, ‘I only believe in Miyan bhai’, referring to Siraj by his popular nickname. The video came as a spoof of what Siraj had said for fellow pacer Jasprit Bumrah after the latter’s match-winning spell against South Africa in the T20 World Cup Final of 2024. The camaraderie was evident, which reflected the team’s spirit following a hard-fought series.

Siraj emerges hero

Siraj was instrumental in India’s triumph, taking important wickets in England’s first innings, dismissing key batters Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Jacob Bethell, and finishing with figures of 4/86. He followed it up with a brilliant performance in the second innings, where he claimed a five-wicket haul, returning 5/104.

Over the course of the five-Test series, the Hyderabad-born bowler bowled an exhausting 185.3 overs and emerged as the highest wicket-taker of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He finished with 23 wickets at an average of 32.43, including one four-wicket haul and two five-wicket hauls, becoming the spearhead of India’s bowling attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
