Former fast bowler Stuart Broad is excited by the prospect of witnessing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi bat on English shores during the upcoming five-match T20I series between the Three Lions and India commencing on July 1. The 15-year-old has been included in the senior squad for the first time ahead of the series against Ireland and England.

Broad wants India to play Sooryavanshi in the first T20I at Chester-le-Street based on his current form. The left-handed batter once again caught the headlines when he scored an 11-ball half-century during the Tri-Nations Series final against Sri Lanka. That kind of prospect is something Broad looks forward to, and he said he might be starstruck watching Sooryavanshi bat.

“He’s got it all, hasn’t he? He’s got it all. He’s even getting into sledging now. OK, the cricket’s too easy. 11 balls. That’s crazy. I’m sure you’re probably not hoping, but I’m doing the first T20 up in Durham against India, what’s that, July the 1st? Wednesday, July the 1st? I just hope he plays. I really, I’ve actually got to be honest, I think I might be starstruck by him,” Broad said on the For the Love of Cricket podcast.

Broad also claimed that Sooryavanshi is not all hype that has no substance. The former seamer recently shared the commentary box with Dinesh Karthik during England’s second Test against New Zealand, where he learned how good the Rajasthan Royals starlet is.

“And do you know what? It’s not just us buying into the hype. I mean, you’ve obviously seen him, you’ve kept to him. I’ve spent the week with Dinesh Karthik, who’s one of the coaches, an assistant coach at RCB. And, of course, I’m like, seriously, what do you think of this guy? He’s unbelievable. He’s seriously unbelievable. You can’t get your head around how good this kid is,” he added.

The last few months have elevated Sooryavanshi into becoming one of India’s most talked-about players in recent times. The 15-year-old opening batter took the 2026 Indian Premier League by storm, scoring 776 runs at an astonishing strike-rate of 237.30. He went on to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, along with the Orange Cap and the Emerging Player of the Season award, all at once.

It is worth mentioning that before coming to England, Sooryavanshi might have had two T20Is in his international career, with India playing against Ireland before.
