‘I forgot the way to the press conference’ – Faf du Plessis jokes after ending six-game losing streak in IPL 2024

Royal Challengers Bengaluru took a sigh of relief after they broke their six-game losing streak in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League). The Faf du Plessis-led side recently took on the in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 41st game of the tournament and managed to register a 35-run victory, which was their second win of the season.

After the game, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis came forward and joked that he forgot about his post-match press conference duties after losing six games on the trot. It is worth noting that the skipper from the losing side does not attend the press conference, and it had been quite a while since Du Plessis had done that.

However, it was SRH skipper Pat Cummins who was interviewed first in the post-match presentation ceremony, with Du Plessis being called up afterward, which is when the veteran batter made the joke.

“I forgot the way to the press conference. Every time I’ve just walked off (laughs). The last two games, we’ve showed great signs of a fight. The last game they scored 270+ and we got 260, the KKR game as well we lost by a run. We’ve played some close games but you have to win matches to get some confidence back in the group… When you don’t win, it affects the team and me as well,” Du Plessis said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

I’ll sleep a little happier tonight: Faf du Plessis

Furthermore, the RCB skipper also reflected on how relieved he was to win a game after exactly one month. He opined that confidence in a group of players cannot be faked and that it can only come with good performances, which was just what the side did against SRH.

“I’ll sleep a little happier tonight. You can’t speak confidence into a group, you can’t fake confidence into a group. The only thing that gives confidence is performances. In the first half we were not quite near our potential. Obviously you try 100 per cent but if the performances aren’t good, the competition is so strong and the teams are so strong, you’ll get hurt,” the RCB skipper said.
