I could not believe that I have been selected by Chennai Super Kings: Aravelly Avanish

I could not believe that I have been selected by Chennai Super Kings: Aravelly Avanish

Currently donning India’s blue jersey at the U19 World Cup, 18-year-old Aravelly Avanish will soon be playing under former Indian skipper MS Dhoni as he dons Chennai Super Kings’ yellow jersey in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Playing the biggest match of his career against Australia U19 in the summit clash of the U19 World Cup, Avanish cannot stop thinking about his potential stint with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. It is worth noting that Avanish was roped in by Chennai Super Kings for a base price of INR 20 lakh in the IPL auction and is yet to make his debut for the five-time champions.

Speaking of the same, the 18-year-old recently came forward to opine that he could not believe that he was going to represent Chennai Super Kings and that he was picked by the five-time champions.

“I could not believe that I had been selected by CSK. It took a while to realise that. I was at home that time and our phone was continuously ringing on that day,” Aravelly Avanish was quoted as saying by SportStar. “It was really a dream come true moment for me.”

I want to make Dhoni sir and the CSK family proud: Avanish

Furthermore, Avanish talked of how after the final of the U19 World Cup, the only aim for him is to make MS Dhoni and the CSK family proud. He did reveal that the IPL is not quite on his mind as of right now, but every cricketer dreams of playing under Dhoni and for CSK.

“I want to make Dhoni, sir, and the CSK family proud. IPL is not on my mind right now. After the final, I will think about it but it is a dream of every cricketer to be a part of the CSK team and play under Dhoni sir,” Avanish said.

“I want to learn about the mindset in pressure situations from him. Like when the team is under pressure and not performing well, how he uses his mind to win matches from those situations. His WC 2011 final inning. There is so much to learn from him,” he added.

The youngster is now gearing up to take on Australia in the U19 World Cup final and opined that the Indian team has come to win the tournament and they have executed their plans smoothly and will aim to do the same.

“We have come here to win the world cup and till now executed the plans well. We are playing as a unit and hopefully will continue to do the same. We are all geared up for the finals and not worried about the pressure of expectations. Hotel jane ke baad khud ko pura switch off kar dete hai. (Once I am back in hotel, I completely switch myself off. We talk about other things to rejuvenate and re energise,” Avinash said.
