India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has given his thoughts on Jasprit Bumrah and what it takes to become a premium fast bowler of a cricket team.

The South African great said that a bowler of his calibre is crucial for team India and how much pressure there must be on him. India’s bowling coach hailed Bumrah, terming him the “best fast bowler” in the world.

“Jasprit is the best bowler in the world. But at the end of the day, everybody needs somebody to talk to. There’s always a lot of expectation on him to go and bowl that magical spell and win the game for us. Sometimes, that burden can take its toll,” he explained.

Mokel, one of South Africa’s greatest bowlers himself, explained that even the legends of the game sometimes require honest conversations, and the 32-year-old is no exception to it.

“Having played the game and knowing a lot of the greats in the past that I played with, we all just need somebody to communicate with. I always check in with Bumrah to make sure he’s comfortable and if he agrees with the plans we’ve made. He’s like a Ferrari car. If you can get the engine, the oil and all of the running well, the car will perform,” he concluded.

‘Feels really good’ – Jasprit Bumrah on completing 10 years in International cricket

Bumrah recently completed 10 years in international cricket, having made his debut in Australia in 2016. After the conclusion of the third T20I between India and New Zealand, he spoke about he feels after reaching thes milestone.

“It feels really good. As a child, I only dreamt of playing one game for India. Playing for 10 years, especially as a fast bowler, fighting aches, pains, assumptions and opinions, is something I’m really proud of. When people first saw me, I was not supposed to play for long; some even gave me six months. So this is a feather in my cap, and hopefully the journey continues,” Bumrah said.

The right-arm pacer was named Player of the Match for his brilliant spell of 3 for 17 in the third T20I in the ongoing series against New Zealand.
