‘He truly deserves that place’ – Ramandeep Singh backs Anmolpreet Singh for IPL comeback

Anmolpreet Singh has delivered consecutive match-winning performances in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026, catching the attention of fellow players and raising hopes of an IPL return. The 28-year-old, who previously played for Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2021 and 2024, has been in outstanding form for Mohali Kings in the ongoing tournament.

Ramandeep Singh, Anmolpreet’s teammate at Mohali Kings, has publicly backed his partner for a return to the Indian Premier League. Speaking about Anmolpreet’s recent displays, Ramandeep expressed confidence in his ability to earn a place in an IPL squad.

“I was just thinking of taking the team till the end and playing according to the situation. Apart from that, I was also targeting shots specifically towards and into the gaps. So, it was the only thing I had in mind throughout the partnership. Obviously, the way Anmolpreet is playing and the performances he is putting in are a delight to watch. Looking at his performances, we hope and pray to God [ Waheguru meher kare ] that he gets a chance in the IPL next year, and we get to see him play there, as he truly deserves that place,” Ramandeep said as quoted by Guerilla Cricket.

Anmolpreet Singh’s standout performances in Sher-E-Punjab T20 League

Anmolpreet’s form has been particularly striking in Mohali Kings’ recent matches. In the tournament opener against Amritsar Soormas on August 31, he scored 133 off 51 balls, striking 12 sixes and 10 fours in a dominant display. Mohali Kings successfully chased Amritsar’s total of 259, winning by 5 wickets and scoring 262 for 5 in 19.3 overs.

The opening partnership between Anmolpreet and Ramandeep in that match proved decisive. The two batters added 151 runs off 70 balls, combining 16 fours and 8 sixes to steer their team to victory. Ramandeep contributed 69 not out off 40 balls, hitting 9 fours and 1 six during the partnership.

On Thursday, September 3, Anmolpreet and Ramandeep produced an even more impressive partnership against Fazilka Falcons. Anmolpreet scored 96 off 48 balls, falling just 4 runs short of a century, while Ramandeep remained unbeaten on 73 off 33 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Their second-wicket stand reached 162 runs off 71 balls, surpassing their earlier 151-run partnership and combining 19 fours and 11 sixes across both innings.

Anmolpreet’s performance against Fazilka earned him the Player of the Match award as Mohali Kings won by 40 runs. Across the two partnerships alone, Anmolpreet and Ramandeep accumulated 313 runs off 141 balls, striking 31 fours and 17 sixes combined. The Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026 grand finale was scheduled for September 13.
