Excerpts from the interview
Dinesh Karthik had said that you can evolve into a true 360-degree player. What’s the best piece of advice from DK that changed your perspective on finishing?
He has given me a lot of advice, and everything worked out for me. He taught me how to read the game, understand the bowler and the situation, and maintain my energy and intensity. Learning how to bat in fourth and fifth gear has really helped me grow as a player.
You’ve faced some of the best bowlers in the IPL. Who’s the toughest bowler you’ve faced so far?
Jasprit Bumrah and Marco Jansen
Can you take us through the night after RCB won the IPL title with some unheard moments?
Some were crying, some were happy and shouting, and everyone was expressing their emotions as we won after 18 years. It was an indescribable feeling, truly special.
Is there any unheard dressing room or team hotel incident involving Virat Kohli that you would like to let our fans know?
To be honest, I don’t speak much with him as I respect him a lot. I speak a lot about cricket only. But, hopefully, I open up this season with him.
How does Virat Kohli motivate youngsters in the dressing room despite not being the captain?
He always gives advice wholeheartedly whenever someone asks him anything. If something goes wrong, he always shares his insights with complete honesty.
