Ace Indian batter Virat Kohli seemed to be at the peak of his powers in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. Putting in excellent performances throughout the tournament, Kohli, with the help of his teammates, propelled the Men in Blue to their fourth ODI World Cup final.

However, the side lost to Pat Cummmins-led Australia in the summit clash of the tournament, resulting in heartbreak as the Aussies clinched their sixth World Cup title. With the World Cup finished, many fans came forward to wonder what the future holds for Kohli. It is worth noting that Kohli turned 35 years old in 2023 and will be 39 by the time the next one rolls up.

The same question was put forth for veteran Australian opener David Warner. Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Warner replied to a fan’s post on the social media platform who hoped that Kohli continued to play until the 2031 World Cup.

No reason why he can’t, he is very fit and loves the game so much. https://t.co/5iQry4pp4Y

Kohli was influential for India in ODI World Cup

Kohli was the star of the show for India in the ODI World Cup 2023. Putting in sensational performances across the competition, Kohli’s showings were crucial for the Men in Blue in reaching the summit clash of the tournament.

Scoring 765 runs in 11 World Cup matches, Kohli finished the tournament as the highest run-getter. Furthermore, the 35-year-old also broke the long-standing record of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and scored his 50th ODI century.

The prospect of Kohli continuing until the 2031 World remains a mystery as only time will tell how long the 35-year-old continues to compete at the highest level.
