'He has been unbelievable this year' - Michael Bracewell hails skipper Faf du Plessis' tremendous run-scoring form

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s playoff hopes rest in their own hands as a victory against reigning champions Gujarat Titans will see them qualify for the knockout stages. Ahead of their crucial clash against the league leaders, RCB’s star Kiwi all-rounder lauded skipper Faf du Plessis’ leadership qualities and batting form.

The Bangalore-based outfit are on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs for a second season running under the leadership of Faf du Plessis. The former South African skipper, who joined the side from Chennai Super Kings, has shown no signs of slowing this year, leading the scoring charts in this year’s competition.

“Faf is a great leader. He is very kind and considerate and knows how to get the best out of the players. He has been unbelievable this year, scoring runs at every venue that we have been to it has been incredible. He is a supreme athlete at 38 and he just keeps going. It is brilliant to watch,” Bracewell said in the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries.

The RCB skipper, who has been in scorching form with the bat in IPL 2023, gave an insight into his role at the renowned franchise. Faf revealed that apart from his batting responsibilities at the top of the order, the Proteas star tries to back the youngsters in the team as the leader of the side.

“My role is two-fold, as a batsman, I try and share as much of my experience and learnings around the game, especially, around the mental aspect of batting. As a young player, I felt like, possibly, I didn’t have that information as well as I would have liked.

Then obviously as a captain, there is a role of being the father figure, a supportive role of encouraging them through what is the early stages of their careers. As a captain, it is very important for the young guys to feel that no matter who you are, what you have done, where you come from and how old you are, there is real backing for you,” Faf du Plessis stated.
