Star all-rounder Harsh Dubey produced the finest bowling performance in Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy history on November 2, 2026, returning figures of 9/53 against Madhya Pradesh in the 2026-27 season fixture at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The nine-wicket haul is the best innings return ever recorded by a Vidarbha bowler in the Ranji Trophy, making Dubey the first player to reach that mark.

Dubey took the new ball for Vidarbha and bowled 23.1 overs in the spell, claiming nine of the ten wickets to fall as Madhya Pradesh were bundled out for 209. The sole wicket that eluded him was taken by Nachiket Bhute, who dismissed Yash Dubey at the top of the Madhya Pradesh order early in the innings. That single intervention by Bhute was the only factor that prevented Harsh Dubey from completing a ten-wicket haul, which would have been an even rarer achievement in domestic cricket.

The 9/53 figures represent the MP best-ever bowling performance by a Vidarbha bowler in a single Ranji Trophy innings, surpassing every previous single-innings return in the association’s history in the competition.

How does this performance fit into Harsh Dubey’s domestic record?

Dubey’s nine-wicket effort is the peak of an already outstanding Ranji Trophy record for Vidarbha. In the 2024-25 season alone, he took 69 wickets for the side at an average of 16.99, a tally that underlined his standing as one of the most consistent frontline spinners in domestic cricket.

The 9/53 against Madhya Pradesh now sits above every single-innings return he or any other Vidarbha bowler had previously managed in the Ranji Trophy. His ability to bowl long spells, as shown by his 23.1-over effort in Nagpur, has been a consistent feature of his domestic performances across seasons.

What is Harsh Dubey’s international and IPL background heading into this season?

Dubey made his India debut in June 2026, appearing in two ODIs and taking four wickets across those matches. The international call-up came directly on the back of his prolific domestic record, and he has since been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the IPL, confirming the regard in which franchise cricket holds him.
