Shubman Gill’s maiden IPL century, followed by a clinical bowling display from the bowlers saw Gujarat Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by a comfortable margin of 34 runs in match number 62 of the Indian Premier League 2023.

The visitors won the toss as Aiden Markram & Co. opted to bowl first. Wriddhiman Saha got dismissed for a duck off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the very first over. However, Shubman Gill kept the scoreboard ticking as he along with Sai Sudarshan added 147 for the second wicket.

The Tamil Nadu sensation Sai Sudharsan smashed 47 off 36 before getting dismissed by Macro Jansen in the 15th over. Soon, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Tewatia, and David Miller lost their wickets in quick succession. While Gill (101 0ff 58) rose to his maiden IPL century before getting dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 20th over. A tight over from Bhuvneshwar helped SRH restrict Gujarat to 188 in 20 overs. 

Chasing 189, SRH’s innings was all about Heinrich Klaasen, as he scored a valuable knock 64 off 44 which includes 4 fours and 3 sixes before getting dismissed by Mohammed Shami. Cameos from Bhuvneshwar Kumar (27 off 26) and Mayank Markande (18* off 9) helped SRH to post 154 in 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar kumar was the pick of the bowler for his spell of 5/30 and Shubhman Gill grabbed the Player of the Match award for his knock of 101 off 58. 

Meanwhile, here are some of the important stats and numbers from Match No. 62 between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2023: 

147 – Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan registered the highest partnership of 147 for GT in the IPL. Previously, Wriddhima Saha and Shubhman GIll shared a 142-run stand in Ahmedabad in the ongoing season against Lucknow.

5/30 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar registered his second-best figures of 5/30 in the league and his top spell of 5/19 came against Punjab Kings in Hyderabad in 2017.

547 – Shubman Gill has smashed 576 runs in 13 innings at an average of 48.00 with four half-centuries and one century this season.

1000 – Shubman Gill completed 1000 (1059) runs for GT and became the first player to achieve this feat for GT.  

101 – Shubman Gill scripted his highest score in IPL and his previous highest score was 96 which came against Punjab Kings at Brabourne in 2022.

64 – Heinrich Klaasen (64) registered his highest score in the IPL and his previous highest score was 53* which came against Delhi Capitals in Delhi in the ongoing season itself.

4/21 – Mohammed Shami registered his second-best figures (4/21) in the league and his top spell of 4/11 came against Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad in the ongoing season.

23 – Mohammed Shami has now picked up 23 scalps in the ongoing season and this is his most wickets in a single season, his previous best tally in a season was 20 and it came twice (2020 & 2022).

4/28 – Mohit Sharma scripted his second-best figures with 4/28 in the IPL and his top spell of 4/14 came against Mumbai Indians in Dubai (DSC) in 2014.

2 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up 5/30 and became the bowler with the most number of five-wicket hauls in the IPL along with James Faulkner (2) and Jaydev Unadkat (2).

 326 – Heinrich Klaasen has smashed 326 runs in this season and it is the third most number of runs by a SRH wicketkeeper batter in an IPL season. Jonny Bairstow tops the list with 445 in 2019.

17– 17 wickets were snared by pace bowlers in match no 62 and it is the most ever in an IPL match. The previous best was 15 which came between Kochi Tuskers Kerala vs Deccan Chargers in Kochi in 2011.
