Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell and his Indian-origin wife Vini Raman have become parents for the second time, welcoming a baby girl named Maia Maxwell. The birth was announced on August 18, 2026, through a joint Instagram post in which the couple wrote: “Our dream girl is here, Maia Maxwell.”
The post drew an immediate and warm response from fans and cricket followers across the world, with congratulatory messages flooding in from multiple platforms. Maia’s name quickly began trending on social media as the news spread widely through the day.
The couple is already parents to a son, Logan Maverick Maxwell, born on September 11, 2023. Maia is their first daughter and their second child together.
How did Glenn Maxwell and Vini Raman’s relationship develop?
The two first crossed paths in December 2013, though it was not until 2017 that they went public as a couple. A formal engagement followed in February 2020, and on March 27, 2022, they exchanged vows in Melbourne in a ceremony that celebrated both their backgrounds.
The wedding featured two distinct rituals: a traditional Christian ceremony and a Tamil Brahmin ceremony that honoured Raman’s Indian heritage. Maxwell participated fully in both, donning a traditional golden sherwani for the Tamil Brahmin celebrations. The dual-ceremony occasion received considerable coverage at the time and was widely regarded as a meaningful blend of two cultures.
What is Glenn Maxwell currently doing in cricket?
After a long international career in the 50-over format, Maxwell stepped away from ODI cricket in June 2025. Across 149 appearances, he accumulated 3,990 runs and claimed 77 wickets, leaving behind a record that included one of the most celebrated innings in World Cup history: an unbeaten 201 against Afghanistan in Mumbai at the 2023 ODI World Cup.
His focus has since shifted to franchise cricket, where he holds a dual role as co-owner and captain of Belfast Wolves in the inaugural European T20 Premier League. The tournament is scheduled to get underway on August 26, 2026, just days after the birth announcement.
Maxwell reflected on the squad-building process ahead of the competition.
“Incredibly happy with how the draft went for the Belfast Wolves. It was a new experience for me to be involved that heavily, starting a team from scratch and going through the list management process. Building a squad from the ground up is not easy, but we had a clear plan,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
