Former England captain Andrew Strauss has announced his second marriage seven years after the death of his first wife, Ruth Strauss. The 48-year-old confirmed his remarriage through a social media post. Strauss lost his wife, Ruth, in December 2018 after she was diagnosed with a rare and incurable form of lung cancer that affects non-smokers. She was 46 at the time of her passing, leaving behind Strauss and their two sons, Samuel and Luca, who were aged 10 and 13 then. Her death deeply impacted Strauss, both personally and professionally, leading him to step away from cricket administration and focus on family and advocacy.

In her memory, Strauss founded the Ruth Strauss Foundation in 2019, focused on supporting families facing the loss of a parent due to cancer and funding research into non-smoking-related lung cancers. The foundation’s work has since become closely tied to English cricket, with the annual “Red for Ruth” campaign now a regular fixture during England’s July Test matches.

Strauss has now remarried Antonia Linnaeus-Peat in a private ceremony held in Franschhoek, South Africa. The wedding took place at La Cle Vineyard, around 50 miles east of Cape Town, with only close family members present. Strauss shared images from the ceremony on Instagram, along with a caption thanking Linnaeus-Peat for bringing happiness to him and his sons.

“Celebrating the most special day in our favourite part of the world… Thank you for loving me and the boys the way you do and for showing us true happiness – I am so lucky to have found you. Here’s to a lifetime of beautiful memories, my girl,” he wrote.

Linnaeus-Peat is a former public relations executive and is now the director of Linnaeus Fine Art Advisory Limited. She grew up in Hong Kong and was educated at St Mary’s Calne in Wiltshire. The couple was first seen together publicly around two years ago and had reportedly been in a relationship for some time before their marriage.
