England spinner Dom Bess pens new multi-year contract with Yorkshire

England spinner Dom Bess has signed a new two-year contract extension at Yorkshire, keeping him at the White Rose County at least until the end of the 2028 season.

Born in Devon, Bess made his First-Class debut for Somerset back in 2016 before joining Yorkshire in 2019. The 28-year-old has since taken 227 wickets and scored 2,663 runs for his side. This includes taking seven wickets against Glamorgan during the opening game of the 2026 Rothesay County Championship, which saw him surpass 300 First-Class scalps.

Yorkshire has become my home, and I couldn’t be prouder to continue my journey with the club. These next few years will be exciting ones, not just for us on the pitch, but for all the members and supporters who give us their backing each week. We have such a talented squad, and I’m thrilled to say I’ll be a part of this as we look to push on and win some trophies,” Bess was quoted as saying on Yorkshire’s official website.

Bess was Yorkshire’s captain during the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup, where he led his side to the semi-finals, before losing to Hampshire in Scarborough. He took 10 wickets from nine matches in the 50-over tournament at an economy rate of just under five.

“Our One Day Cup campaign last year was really solid, and there were lots of positives that we can take, not just from that run of games, but the season overall. I’m excited for what is to come over this next period,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Bess has played 14 Test matches for England, taking 36 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls. He made his international debut in 2018 and played his final Test in 2021, against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Bess and Yorkshire will now play their first home game of the new season when they take on Hampshire at Headingley in Leeds.
