Brendon McCullum, the current all-format head coach for England, is all set to be sacked from his duties in the Test format, according to reports. McCullum might continue to be the head coach for the white-ball teams for the Englishmen, the report has further claimed.
The news comes only a week after Ben Stokes said goodbye to international cricket. Stokes had been the partner in crime for McCullum for the so-called Bazball era for the English side. But the former England captain relieved himself of duties as a result of controversies surrounding his off-field behaviour and constant scanner over the team’s performances in red-ball cricket under him.
According to Tom Morris, a senior journalist at 7 Cricket, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be making an official announcement, confirming the ouster of McCullum from England‘s Test set-up. This comes in the aftermath of a poor year of Test cricket for the English side, where they managed a draw against a touring Indian team, lost the Ashes, followed by a home loss to New Zealand.
Major news out of England – Brendon McCullum is set to be sacked as Test coach.
Formal announcement as early as today. Still a chance he will continue leading the white ball teams.
