India suffered a gut-wrenching 22-run defeat in the third Test against England, which was played at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The pulsating encounter lived up to its hype as both teams battled hard to wrestle the momentum in their favour.

The Lord’s, also referred to as the Home of Cricket, is known for its rich history and heritage. Cricketers wait to play at the iconic venue at least once in their careers. Over the years, the venue has hosted some memorable matches, and The Baggy Blues’ latest clash against The Three Lions certainly fell in that category.

There’s also a tradition of ringing the iconic bell at the historic cricketing arena before the start of play. The five-minute bell-ringing tradition was followed in the third Test as well. One active and two former Indian cricketers received the honour of ringing the bell on three out of the five days of riveting cricketing action in London.

Active cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara isn’t a part of India’s Test team at the moment but he is in England doing commentary. The former India No. 3 rang the bell ahead of play on Day 3. He said that he was feeling nervous ahead of ringing the bell as there was a lot of attention around the occasion he didn’t want to mess it up. Pujara has played 103 Tests and five ODIs for the Men in Blue. He is still grinding it out in domestic cricket, hoping to make his way back into the national team.

3. Mithali Raj

Mithali Raj is one of the finest women to have played the game. With 10,868 runs, Raj has more runs than any other female player in international cricket. The former India captain rang the bell before Day 4 of the Lord’s Test. Later, she said that it was a special moment for her. The 42-year-old also recalled some of her matches at the venue, including the 2017 ODI World Cup final.
