Pace-bowling duo of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took four wickets each as India wrapped England’s first innings for 247 in the fifth and final Test of the ongoing series at the Kennington Oval, London. Although England managed to a 23-run lead, the Siraj-Krishna duo’s equally good spells still gave India a chance to overcome the narrow deficit and post a stronger total on the board in the second innings.

Meanwhile, former cricketer Irfan Pathan also shared his opinion on the brilliant spells with the ball from Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. He said that Siraj is a different gravy when there is a responsibility of leading the pace attack from the front on his shoulders. Prasidh Krishna, who had struggled on the tour so far, also did justice to his skills with the spell on the second day, reckons Pathan.

“When you give the responsibility of leading the pack to Mohammed Siraj, he delivers differently. And those 4 wickets will do a world of good to Prasidh Krishna,” the former India all-rounder wrote on his official ‘X’ handle.

Siraj a true India champion: Mohammad Kaif

Meanwhile, Mohammad Kaif, who played for quite some time with Pathan, also added to his words for the ace pacer Siraj. Kaif believes that Siraj is widely underrated, but he performs no matter what challenges the conditions pose ahead of him. As a result, the Uttar Pradesh-born believes that Siraj is a champion bowler, who deserves more credit for his contributions for the Indian team.

“Mohammed Siraj doesn’t get the due he deserves. His ‘never-say-die’ attitude brings the crowd to the stadium. What a true India champion,” Kaif praised the Hyderabad-born.

India to resume Day 3 from 75-2

Coming to the match, India currently lead by 52 runs in their second innings, and have lost a couple of wickets already, as KL Rahul (7) and Sai Sudharsan (11) have made their way back to the pavilion. In-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (52*) will resume the innings alongside Akash Deep (4*) on the third day, as the Shubman Gill-led side will look to maximize the target for the Englishmen.
