India will be hosted by England for a five-match Test series, starting June 20 with the first Test at Headingley in Leeds. While the English side is fairly experienced with skipper Ben Stokes leading the pack, India have found a new skipper in Shubman Gill, who will be captaining in red-ball internationals for the first time in his career.

With the series right around the corner, legendary pace bowler Dale Steyn has ruled that the series, which will also mark the commencement of WTC 2025-27 cycle for both the sides, will end in Stokes & Co.’s favour. Steyn’s verdict clearly hints that Shubman Gill-led India are not capable of winning in challenging conditions of the United Kingdom. He predicted a 3-2 scoreline in England’s favour at the end of the series, predicting no drawn games.

“All games will be close. But all will have a result. I think it will be 3-2 in favour of England. There will be a result in every Test match. There will be no run away win for any team, all five games will be very close,” Dale Steyn said on JioHotstar.

Indian team’s preparation for England series

Speaking of the Indian team’s recent preparations ahead of the series, they were currently playing an Intra-squad match at the Kent County Cricket Ground at Beckenham. Sarfaraz Khan was the star of the match, scoring 101 off 76 balls before being retired out. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper Gill and KL Rahul also scored half-centuries in a closed-door event.

Speaking of the bowlers, while Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless on Day 2, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took two wickets each in the practice game. While India scored 459 runs in the first innings, India A ended Day two on 299-6 with Ishan Kishan and Shardul Thakur at the crease.
