Harshit Rana was left displeased with a reporter’s question concerning India’s effectiveness with the new ball without the likes of Jasprit Bumrah spearheading the lineup. Harshit made his opinion heard after India secured a four-wicket victory with six deliveries to spare on January 11 at the Kotambi Stadium.

The journalist had mentioned to Harshit on how the Indian bowling has struggled to strike early without Bumrah’s presence in the ODI XI.

“We can see that, in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah; we can see a problem in the Indian bowling. With the new ball, the wickets are not coming easily. So, what’s the reason for that?,” asked the reporter during the post-match conference, as quoted by NDTV Sports.

Harshit responded by stating that Mohammed Siraj bowled well and the bowling attack limited the flow of runs quite well.

“I don’t know which cricket you’ve seen. If you look at it today, if we haven’t got any wickets, Siraj has bowled very well. We haven’t even given away any runs with the new ball. And it’s not like that. It’s like, if you don’t get wickets with the new ball, you’ll take them out in the middle,” noted Rana.

In the same press conference, Harshit also mentioned that the team management has wanted to groom him as an all-rounder. The pacer also conceded that Harshit has been working on his batting in the nets and also credited the seasoned KL Rahul for guiding him for when he was in the middle.

Harshit had an impressive outing in the middle. He picked two wickets in his 10 overs in the first innings. He then contributed with a valuable 29-run knock off 23 deliveries iwith two fours and a six.

The second and third ODIs are scheduled to be played in Rajkot (January 14) and Indore (January 18), respectively. The Men in Blue will be aiming on sealing the series soon.
