Chennai Super Kings’ IPL Records and Stats against Lucknow Super Giants

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be up against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The defending champions will march into Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium as a confident unit with two straight wins in their last encounters.

CSK’s latest triumph came in a high-scoring encounter against Mumbai Indians (MI) by 20 runs. Having won four out of six matches, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team is currently third in the points table. Meanwhile, LSG have had mixed results, losing two matches in a row. As a result of their inconsistent run, the hosts are currently fifth in the table with three wins from six matches.

Chennai, a part of the league since 2008, have won five trophies. On the other hand, Lucknow started their campaign in 2022 and had a decent campaign with two playoff appearances. In this two-year time frame, the two teams have crossed paths three times, with both sharing a win and one match ending in a draw.

Spin all-rounder Moeen Ali tops the list of highest wicket-takers for CSK against LSG. The Englishman has taken six wickets in three matches with his right-arm off-spin deliveries, including a four-wicket haul. Fast bowler Tushar Deshpande is second in this category with three wickets. Matheesha Pathirana, Dwaine Pretorius and Maheesh Theekshana have taken two wickets each in this rivalry.

CSK’s highest total against LSG in IPL history

CSK posted their highest score against LSG in the 6th match of the 2023 season at their own backyard – the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Batting first, the opening partnership of 110 by Gaikwad and Devon Conway set the tone for CSK to register 217-7 in 20 overs. LSG fought hard in reply, but they fell short of 12 runs.

Chennai’s lowest total against LSG was in the 2022 season at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. On the back of Robin Uthappa’s half-century and Shivam Dube’s 49, CSK posted a good total of 210-7. However, the trio of KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock and Evin Lewis helped LSG to cross the target in the final over with six wickets in hand.
