The choreographer and digital creator Dhanashree Verma recently opened up about her marriage to Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, revealing that the relationship was troubled from the very beginning. She claimed that the leg-spinner had cheated within just two months of their wedding in December 2020.

When actor Kubbra Sait, a fellow participant on ‘Rise and Fall’ – a reality TV drama, asked Dhanashree when she realized that her marriage with Yuzvendra Chahal was a mistake, the latter stated in a low voice, ‘First year. Caught him in the second month’. The two shared a laugh, echoing, ‘Crazy bro’.

The couple first connected during online dance sessions during the Covid-19 lockdown, as revealed by the cricketer during a past interview. However, they filed for divorce by mutual consent in February this year, and their marriage formally ended in March. Dhanashree clarified that the process was quick, dismissing speculation around alimony.

“It happened quickly because it was mutual. That’s why when people say alimony, it’s wrong. Just because I am not saying anything, you will go on saying anything? My parents have taught me to only justify to people whom I care about,” she said on the podcast.

Chahal walked out first, reveals ex-wife

Reflecting on the emotional weight of the separation, Dhanashree recounted the moment the verdict was delivered on a podcast, ‘Humans of Bombay.’ Though the marriage ended within three years, she has since focused on personal well-being and ignoring public noise.

“Even though we were so well-prepared mentally, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody. I couldn’t even express what I was feeling at that point. He (Chahal) walked out first. Why waste time explaining to those who don’t even know you?,” she revealed.

Meanwhile, Dhanashree will soon make her Telugu debut with the dance-based film ‘Akasam Daati Vastaava’, further marking a new chapter in her personal and professional life. She has already made her Bollywood debut with a dance number alongside popular actor Rajkumar Rao’s Bhool Chuk Maaf.
