England all-rounder Ben Stokes recently shared a side-by-side throwback comparison on his Instagram Story featuring his son Layton. The post placed a 2013 photograph of Layton as a toddler standing beside his father next to a 2026 image showing Layton’s growth into a young man, spanning 13 years between the two pictures.

The post was shared on Instagram and also drew attention on Facebook, where fans and cricket enthusiasts responded to the comparison. The framing of the post centred on the bond between Stokes and his family.

Layton Stokes and the Stokes family background

Layton Stokes was born in 2012, making him the eldest child of Ben Stokes and Clare Ratcliffe. With the older photograph dated to 2013, Layton would have been a toddler at the time it was taken. The 2026 image captures him as a teenager, consistent with the 13-year gap described in the post.

Stokes and Clare Ratcliffe got engaged in 2013. The couple married on October 14 2017 at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in East Brent, Somerset. Both Layton and their daughter Libby were present at the wedding.

Ben Stokes’s cricket career at the time of the post

Stokes himself was born on June 4 1991 in Christchurch, New Zealand. He is a left-handed bat and right-arm fast-medium bowling all-rounder who has represented England across all three formats. He captained the England Test side from 2022 to 2026, with his last recorded Test match taking place on June 25 2026 against New Zealand.

The throwback post arrived during the current year, with Stokes away from active international cricket following that final Test appearance. The comparison between the 2013 and 2026 photographs marks a visible 13-year span in Layton’s life, from toddler to young man, as documented by his father on social media. He has scored 10,000 runs across formats for England which includes 19 centuries and 50-plus half-centuries. He is currently playing for Durham after hanging up his boots from international setup.
