Before leaving, PCB chief Najam Sethi makes significant structural changes and appointments in Pakistan’s cricket governing body

As the previous management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) prepared to step down, Chief Najam Sethi introduced significant changes to the organization’s structure. Recognizing the need for a fresh approach and enhanced efficiency, Sethi made several notable appointments and implemented key promotions within the board, ensuring a strong leadership team to take the PCB forward.

One of the pivotal appointments was that of Usman Wahla, who was elevated to the prestigious position of Director of International Cricket. This critical role entrusted Wahla with the responsibility of overseeing and managing all aspects of Pakistan’s involvement in international cricket tournaments. From player selection and team management to strategic scheduling, Wahla would play a central role in shaping Pakistan’s international cricket endeavours.

In addition to Wahla’s appointment, several members of the PCB were given promotions and increased responsibilities. Adnan Ali, a seasoned cricket professional, has been named Senior Manager of International Cricket Operations, where he will be in charge of organizing different operational aspects of Pakistan’s international cricket activities. Raza Rashid, an expert in media management, has been appointed General Manager of the Media Department, with the responsibility of increasing PCB’s media presence. Bilal Qureshi has been named General Manager of Umpires and Referees, with responsibility for maintaining high umpiring standards in Pakistan cricket.

Furthermore, Shoaib Naveed, who took a three-month sabbatical to work for American Cricket, appears to have been appointed General Manager of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Balochistan High Court puts stay on election proceedings to appoint new PCB chairman

However, it is vital to highlight that the new chairman must approve the implementation of these decisions and appointments. The elections for the new chairman have been postponed as a result of a stay order issued on Monday by a two-member bench of the Balochistan High Court.

Nonetheless, the PCB remains dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition and effective governance while keeping Pakistan cricket’s best interests in mind. The new leadership team, as well as the potential new chairman, will be crucial in defining a successful route for PCB and Pakistani cricket in general.
