The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive cash reward of INR 7.5 crore for Ayush Mhatre and his team following their triumph in the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe. India defeated England in the final at the Harare Sports Club on Friday, February 8, to clinch the title.

This victory marks India’s sixth U19 World Cup title and their third since 2018. The team enjoyed an unbeaten campaign and rose to the occasion when it mattered most, registering impressive wins over Afghanistan and England in the knockout stages to cap off a dominant tournament.

“A cash award of Rs 7.5 crore will be given to the Indian team who won the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia. We are working on the details of the prize amount break-up for players, technical staff and the selection committee, but Rs 7.5 crore is the total reward for them from the BCCI,” Saikia said as quoted by News18.

India are now six-time champions of the competition, two titles more than second-placed Australia. Following a memorable unbeaten campaign, the squad was showered with praise from all quarters. BCCI president Mithun Manhas lauded the team’s confidence and character displayed throughout the tournament.

“Winning the Under-19 World Cup for the sixth time is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of India’s strength in age-group cricket. This team played with confidence and character throughout the tournament. Holding both the men’s and women’s Under-19 World Cup titles is a matter of immense pride and highlights the depth of our cricketing structure,” Mithun Manhas said in a statement by the BCCI.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a record-breaking knock of 175 off 80 balls to propel India to a massive total of 411/9. The target proved far beyond England U19, who were bowled out for 311 during their chase. The Indian team is expected to return home with the trophy on Sunday, February 8.
