BCB to probe corruption allegations against board director

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Integrity Unit has started a thorough investigation against board director Mokhlesur Rahman after allegations related to corruption in the 2025-26 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) have been made. Rahman has also relinquished his role as the BCB chairperson for the Audit Committee, according to a report from ESPNcricinfo.

Former ICC Integrity Unit head Alex Marshall is leading the BCB’s Integrity Unit. He has already submitted a 900-page report concerning allegations of corruption in BPL. That report was prepared by an independent committee set up previously.

Speaking about Rahman, he had become a director of the BCB after getting appointed through the elections on October 6 last year. Rahman, a board councillor from Bangladesh’s Chapainawabganj district, is not the first BCB director to land in hot water.

M Nazmul Islam had recently made controversial remarks on former Bangladeshi cricketer Tamim Iqbal on social media and a press conference, which led to a protest from Bangladesh cricketers who boycotted a BPL game, demanding Nazmul’s removal as chairperson of the Finance Committee. Nazmul was eventually sacked by the BCB from his role. He was recently spotted watching BPL matches from the president’s box at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Rahman’s issue regarding corruption comes at the time Bangladesh have been replaced by Scotland at the 2026 T20 World Cup after a long standoff with the ICC, refusing to travel to India for the tournament due to security concerns. The ICC confirmed the decision on January 24. Scotland will be placed in Group C alongside Italy, Nepal, West Indies and England.
