Bangladesh women’s tour of India postponed

Bangladesh women's tour of India postponed

The six-match white-ball series (comprising three ODIs and three T20Is) between Bangladesh and India has been postponed. The matches were scheduled to be played in December. Although no particular reason was specified, it is believed that the current political tensions between India and Bangladesh played a key role.

A spokesperson from the BCB confirmed the development on November 18 that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had sent them a letter. The official notice, as per ESPNcricinfo, stated that the series will be pushed to a later date.

The series was supposed to be a part of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme and also the Women in Blue’s last set of fixtures before the commencement of the 2026 Women’s Premier League.

Earlier in the year, the Men in Blue were scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series. However, that has also been postponed to next year, and is likely to be held in September 2026.

“This decision has been reached following discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course,” the BCCI had said in a statement at the time.

India and Bangladesh last faced each other in the 2025 Women’s World Cup in Navi Mumbai. The clash ended in ‘no-result’ after rain interrupted the proceedings.

After the WPL, the Indian team will tour Down Under for an all-format series. The assignment will comprise three T20Is, three ODIs and one Test. The Tigresses will have to wait for their next set of fixtures to be decided.
