The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka is all set to host the opening Test between Bangladesh and West Indies, which will get underway on Wednesday, October 28. The two-match series will be part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, with the second Test scheduled to be played in Sylhet from November 5.

Bangladesh will look to make the most of home conditions as they prepare to take on the Caribbean side. However, the hosts have a fitness concern surrounding veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim, who was struck on the hand during a net session on the eve of the match. His availability could be a key factor for Bangladesh, given his experience and importance in the middle order.

West Indies, meanwhile, will aim to make a strong start to the series in Dhaka. Bangladesh have included experienced fast bowler Taskin Ahmed in their squad after resting him for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. However, the visitors will have to contend with the absence of Shai Hope behind the stumps, with Joshua Da Silva set to take over wicketkeeping duties.

Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka Pitch Report

The surface at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium is expected to offer a competitive contest between bat and ball in the Bangladesh vs West Indies Test. The average first-innings score of 328 suggests that batters can score big runs if they settle in, while the second-innings average of 308 indicates that the pitch can remain conducive to batting as the match progresses.

With 15 of the 30 Tests won by teams batting first and 12 won by sides bowling first, the statistics suggest that the toss may not be decisive.
