Bowling all-rounder Rishad Hossain reflected on how he likes to stick to his work and aims on giving his best for Bangladesh. Rishad claimed his career-best ODI figures (6/35 in 9 overs) as the Bangla Tigers registered a massive 74-run win at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur on Saturday, October 18.

Rishad, who contributed with 26 off 13 with the bat in the first innings, also spoke on how he takes his batting seriously too. He admitted that his aim was to contribute in any manner he could: be it with bat, ball or in the field.

“I stuck to my process. I had to adjust in the first couple of overs, but then I could make up quickly. I always try to contribute in all three departments. I believe that Allah will always find me a way to do always something for the team. I always try to contribute something extra with the bat for the team. I think if my contribution takes the team from 180 to 210 or 215, that’s great. I am aware of what the team is looking from me as a batter,” stated Rishad, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

He also pointed out how the Mirpur deck was quite similar to the one in Guyana. He confessed that the Guyana deck was worse than the one dished out in Mirpur. According to social media, he was probably referring to the pitches during the West Indies-Bangladesh series in 2022.

The [Dhaka] wicket was same for both teams. We have encountered an even worse pitch in Guyana. We adjusted to those conditions. It was the same condition for both sides,” he added.

Bangladesh were all-out for 207 in 49.4 overs. Towhid Hridoy top-scored with 51 off 90. Mahidul Islam Ankon scored 46 on his debut in the format. Khary Pierre was the most economical bowler from the touring side, conceding only 19 runs in his 10-over quota. Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz conceded only 16 runs in his full spell during the run-chase, but it wasn’t enough.
