Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood has commented on the English batting lineup that Australia will have to face in the Ashes 2025/26. The five-match series is scheduled to commence from November 21.

Hazlewood namedropped a couple of batters he felt could cause trouble to Australia. He felt Harry Brook would adapt to Australian conditions well, although it will be his first time touring Down Under. Hazlewood also opined that the in-form Joe Root will be a tough nut to crack.

“I think [Brook] will adapt. He’s a good player. He’s at the top of the rankings for a reason, and he’ll be a tough challenge. I think a fresh face like Harry Brook might find it easier. There’s no baggage behind him and he can just come out and play with freedom as he does,” Hazlewood was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“Joe’s probably in the form of his life as well. So they’re an unbelievable batting line, to be honest. The top seven have done really well, so it’s a challenge. (On being asked whether it will be strongest batting up England have sent to Australia in recent times) Yeah, definitely,” he added.

The 34-year-old revealed how he and the fellow quicks are shaping up for the Ashes. Hazlewood said that he was quite comfortable in bowling several spells in a day.

“The Test [only] guys will play more than one [Shield game]. They’ll probably play two or three, but everyone’s on different programs. I used it last year and I’ve sort of found that it’s very beneficial. Time on the field, multiple spells in a day, it’s sort of hard to replicate it at training. So, to get that before a Test series is pretty pivotal, I think,” he added.

Hazlewood recently featured for Australia in the white-ball series against South Africa. His last red-ball assignment was the three-match series in West Indies, where he impressed with 14 wickets in six innings at an average of 14.42.
