The National Selection Panel (NSP) has announced squads for the Qantas One-Day and T20 International Series against Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Australia plays Pakistan in three One-Day Internationals in Rawalpindi (May 30) and Lahore (June 2 and 4) before travelling to Bangladesh for three ODI games in Dhaka (June 9, 11 and 14) and three T20 Internationals in Chattogram (June 17, 19 and 21).
Every match is live and exclusive on Fox Sports, available on Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
South Australia’s Sheffield Shield Player of the Year Liam Scott and young Victorian batter Ollie Peake make their first Australian squad. Peake was with the Australian Test team in Sri Lanka as a development player last year but was not part of the squad.
Sydney Sixers’ Joel Davies, who was awarded the prestigious Andrew Symonds Award as last summer’s Most Valuable Player in the Big Bash League, also makes his first Australian squad for the T20 Internationals in Bangladesh.
Fast bowlers Billy Stanlake and Riley Meredith return to the Australian setup for the Pakistan ODIs while New South Wales’ spinner Tanveer Sangha joins both ODI squads. Meredith will also stay on for the Bangladesh T20 series.
Travis Head, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis and Xavier Bartlett, all currently playing in the Indian Premier League, will come in for Peake, Stanlake, Meredith and Matt Short for the ODIs in Bangladesh as the build towards next year’s ICC Men’s One-Day World Cup begins.
Left-arm quick Spencer Johnson returns for the T20 component along with Aaron Hardie.
Chair of Selectors George Bailey said: “It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket and be a part of the national team.
“The blend of experienced players coupled with new or returning players will provide a nice mix for these subcontinent tours.
“Continuing to provide opportunities for players to develop across a broad range of conditions and experiences is important and will continue to be a focus over the next 18 months to two years across the calendar and with future campaigns in mind.”
