AUS-W vs SA-W Only Test Highlights: Unmissable video recap, turning points, match analysis, stats and more

Australia and South Africa concluded their multi-format with the end of the the only Test at the Western Australia Cricket Association Ground in Perth.

The clash began with the visitors batting first. Australia’s magnificent bowling attack had South Africa on their knees as openers Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch were dismissed for four and zero, respectively. Sune Luus was the highest run-getter in the first innings with just 26 runs to her name.

As a result of their batting collapse, South Africa managed to post a total of 76 in the first innings. As for Australia, Darcie Brown was the highest wicket-taker, with five wickets to her name, while Annabel Sutherland struck thrice and Tahlia McGrath twice.

Coming in to bat, Australia posted a mammoth total of 575 before declaring. Beth Mooney played a fine knock of 78 runs in 109 deliveries while Alyssa Healy missed out on her century by just one run, getting dismissed for 99. Annabel Sutherland was the star of the show, dominating the visitors with a double ton (210 runs in 256 deliveries).

The visitors’ bowling attack looked stale in the first innings. Masabata Klaas and Chloe Tryon were the highest wicket-takers with three wickets to their names while Nadine de Klerk took two.

As they came out to bat with a huge trail ahead of them, South Africa once again succumbed under pressure. The top order collapsed and was once again at the mercy of Australia’s attack. Delmi Tucker and Tyron showed some resilience in the middle order, scoring 64 each, but the hosts were too much for South Africa to handle as they bundled out for 215 to lose by an innings and 284 runs.

Australia previously won the three-match T20I and ODI series by an identical 2-1 margin.

Australia Women win the only Test by an innings and 284 runs

Great 2nd innings effort from Delmi Tucker & Chloe Tryon, both getting to maiden Test fifties but sadly nothing else from the others #AUSWvSAW

And that’s it, Hlubi hits the ball back to King and is caught and bowled as South Africa are bowled out for 215. Australia win by 284 runs on the back of some great bowing on day one and exceptional batting. Proteas will learn a lot from this defeat but it’ll taste bad. #AUSWvSAW
