Shamim Hossain looked all at sea against Varun Chakaravarthy in the Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Bangladesh, which took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 24.
Chasing a target of 169 in the crucial Super Four clash, Bangladesh were 65/3 in 9.4 overs when Shamim walked out to bat. He joined forces with Saif Hassan, and Bangladesh would have wanted the two young batters to stitch a partnership to take them closer to the target.
However, Shamim could not last even one ball against Chakaravarthy, who dismissed the southpaw with a flat delivery from round the wicket. Shamim gave himself some room, looking to hit the ball through the off-side. However, the delivery didn’t come in as much as he was expecting. The ball knocked the leg-stump onto the floor, as the Bangladesh batter departed for a three-ball duck.
Take a look at the video below:
Bangladesh eventually got dismissed for 127 in 19.3 overs. India put down five catches, as they struggled with the “Ring of Fire” at the stadium. Saif Hassan, who was given four reprieves, waged a lone battle, scoring 69 off 51 balls with the help of three fours and five sixes. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India, finishing with figures of 3/18 in four overs. Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Earlier in the match, Abhishek Sharma scored a breathtaking half-century off just 25 balls. He was run out for 75 off just 37 balls. Abhishek was adjudged Player of the Match for his whirlwind knock. With this win, India managed to book their place in Sunday’s final. They will be joined by the winner of Thursday’s clash between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
