Ashes 2025-26: We have plans to tackle Travis Head in Brisbane, says Brydon Carse

With Brydon Carse has shared that the English unit has made plans in place for Travis Head as Australia and England gear up for the second Ashes Test in Brisbane. Notably, Head’s explosive ton in the run-chase of the series-opening clash in Perth blew England away as Australia won by eight wickets inside two days.

Carse commended Head’s innings and admitted that the latter had had an “incredible day” in Perth. He, however, mentioned that England will not change their approach in response to Australia’s varying tactics.

“I think that was a phenomenal knock by a high-quality player. If he does open the batting again, we’ve got set plans we’ll look to use. But again, I don’t think anything changes from a mindset thing. He had an incredible day out that afternoon. Whatever we’re presented with, we’ll stick to our plans,” Carse was quoted as saying by India Today.

With Mark Wood missing the pink-ball fixture, Carse highlighted that he will be willing to take on the extra responsibility if needed. He also clarified that each member knows what their role is in the side.

“I’ll still be adaptable to whatever the situation brings. Obviously again, different challenges this week, where we could be bowling under lights at different times. But I think as a bowling group, we’re quite settled in and where we’re going to bowl and what our role is in the side,” he added.

England were defeated comprehensively by eight wickets in the first Test of the five-match series. While Head steamrolled England in the second innings of the match, Player of the Match Mitchell Starc tested them across both the innings. The left-arm quick ended up with a 10-wicket match haul, with the Three Lions not having much answers while facing him.

The first match only lasted a couple of days in what was a low-scoring contest. England XI played a two-day match against Prime Minister’s XI on November 29 and November 30. The English unit won the match by eight wickets. It will be interesting to witness how England go about dealing with the threat of the left-handed Head.
