Subramaniam Badrinath said that Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) bowlers set up the eight-wicket win against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, May 2.

On a decent batting surface, the Mumbai Indians could only post 159/7 despite two out of their top three batters playing well. Anshul Kamboj was the star of the show for the home team, as he finished with stunning figures of 3/32 in his four overs.

Badrinath lauded Kamboj for his exploits with the ball throughout the season. The former CSK batter said that Kamboj’s performance has been the biggest positive for the five-time champions in IPL 2026. The cricketer-turned-expert also praised the right-arm seamer for how he has improved his bowling in the death overs.

“The bowlers won the game for CSK. The batters just finished the job. Though Samson has scored two centuries, Anshul Kamboj has been the biggest positive for CSK. He takes wickets in the powerplay and in the death overs. Nobody would have believed it if someone said Kamboj would be the best death overs bowler. But he had turned things around by grinding it out and bowling the difficult overs in domestic cricket,” Badrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Hardik Pandya was clueless against him: Badrinath applauds Jamie Overton

Badrinath was also impressed by Jamie Overton’s variations. The former India cricketer said that Overton made Hardik Pandya clueless on Saturday. Badrinath even went as far as calling the England all-rounder the best overseas player.

“Overton has been the other revelation with the ball. He has the rare ability to bowl at 147 kph and also 120. Hardik Pandya was clueless against him. Jamie Overton ate Hardik Pandya up and burped after that. Overton has perhaps been the best foreigner,” said Badrinath (via the aforementioned source).

Chennai Super Kings chased down a 160-run target in just 18.1 overs, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kartik Sharma scoring unbeaten half-centuries.
