Alana King smashes six and stumps in same ball, video goes viral

In the third ODI between Australia and South Africa Women at the North Sydney Oval, the spectators witnessed a bizarre scene as Alana King managed to hit a six but unfortunately, the bat also dislodged her stumps. However, interestingly, Masabata Klaas’ delivery was above the waist height, as it saved King from walking back to the pavilion. The leg-umpire called for a no-ball as the Australian dug-out was in splits.

King, who fell while hitting it to the fence, slowly got up and shared a laugh with Beth Mooney. She went on to make 17 runs off 12 deliveries, as Australia posted 277 runs on the board in the first innings. Mooney, was the star with the bat, as the 30-year-old scored 82 runs off 91 deliveries. Skipper Alyssa Healy too looked in good form, as the opener made 60 runs off 73 deliveries. Tahlia McGrath looked in good touch as well, and based on that, the hosts posted a healthy total on the board.

Klaas ended up picking four wickets in the match, courtesy of which, South Africa managed to restrict the Aussies to under 280 runs. At one point, it seemed that the Alyssa Healy-led side would easily cross the 300-run barrier but Klaas proved to be deadly while Marizanne Kapp, Eliz-mari Marx, Nadine de Klerk and Chloe Tryon picked up one wicket each.

South Africa suffer early jolts in a rain-marred game against Australia

When it came to the run chase in the ongoing third ODI of the series, South Africa Women lost early wickets. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt failed to give the team a perfect start, as she got out after scoring just three runs. Anneke Bosch soon followed suit as the visitors were reduced to 19/2. Tazmin Brits, who was looking good in the middle failed to capitalize in the middle, as the 33-year-old got out after scoring 31 runs. Experienced campaigner Kapp too failed to get going, as she couldn’t open her tally.

The series is currently poised at 1-1 and for South Africa to win it, the visitors will have to produce a phenomenal performance in the remaining overs.
