Afghanistan unveil 17-member squad forUAE T20I Tri-Series 2025

Afghanistan have named a 17-member squad for the upcoming triangular series, set to be played in the United Arab Emirates from August 29.

As many as 16 out of the 17 players from the Asia Cup squad, which was announced on August 24, have been included in the tri-series setup. The only change is Naveen-ul-Haq, who has been rested for the three-team tournament to be played from September 9, with Abdullah Ahmadzai included in his spot. Ahmadzai has received his maiden call-up from the national team. Rashid Khan, who was included in the ICC Men’s Team of the Year in 2024, will be leading the unit.

There is plenty of lot of experience in the squad with the likes of Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat and Gulbadin Naib while the top-order is filled with the explosive firepower of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran. Sediqullah Atal and Azmatullah Omarzai, who both have been impressive in domestic T20 competitions, have also been named.

Fazalhaq Farooqi will lead the pace-bowling department. There are plenty of spin options for Afghanistan in the form of AM Ghazanfar, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Nabi and captain Rashid himself.
