Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a swashbuckling 171 off 95 for India U19 against UAE U19 in Match 1 of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy in Dubai on December 12. Suryavanshi’s blistering knock comprised nine fours and 14 sixes.
The 14-year-old superstar did not spare the opposition during his rampaging time in the middle. He was dismissed on the fifth ball of the 33rd over. However, there were several milestones which Suryavanshi shattered during an incredible knock.
5 records Vaibhav Suryavanshi set during his 171-run knock
5. Highest score by an Indian in U19 Asia Cup
The record for this was previously held by Himanshu Rana. He had scored 130 off 123 in the semi-final clash of the 2016 U19 Asia Cup. India U19 went onto win that particular clash by 77 runs.
4. Most sixes in an innings in Youth ODIs
Michael Hill was previously the record-holder for the most sixes in an innings in Youth ODIs. He attained the feat in the 2008 U19 World Cup against Namibia with 12 sixes. Suryavanshi’s 14 sixes eclipsed Hill’s long-standing record.
3. First batter to cross 50 sixes in Youth ODIs
Prior to the match, Suryavanshi had 43 sixes in his tally. At the end of his innings, he increased that number to 57. Even speaking about Indians, he had already hit more sixes. The second-most in Youth ODIs for India U19 is former skipper Unmukt Chand with 38.
2. Most sixes in an innings in U-19 Asia Cup
Darwish Rasooli had smacked 10 sixes in his unbeaten 38-ball 105 in the 2017 U19 Asia Cup. Suryavanshi hit four more than that for India U19 in his whirlwind knock against UAE U19 to set a new record.
1. Second-highest score by an Indian in U-19 ODIs
Suryavanshi fell just seven runs short of breaking the record for the highest score by an India U19 batter in Youth ODIs. The record still stands with Ambati Rayudu during India U19’s 2002 tour of England. Rayudu had scored an unbeaten 177 off 114. Suryavanshi’s tally is now the second-highest.
