Despite the dearth of genuine leg-spinners in South African cricket, Peter stands out with remarkable control over his deliveries, wielding two of the most potent weapons in his arsenal – the slider and the googly.

Peter shared a lighthearted story with TimesLive, explaining how he unwittingly found himself becoming a leg-spinner after being inspired by the legendary Shane Warne. His decisiveness to commit to leg spin became even more fortified after witnessing the magic of the late luminary, who scalped an absurd 1001 dismissals spanning across 145 Tests and 194 ODIs while donning the Australian jersey. Other than the plethora of coveted achievements and feats attained by the icon, he was instrumental in granting Australia their second ICC Cricket World Cup title, registering dazzling figures of 4/33 in nine overs.
