India have more questions than answers at this stage after suffering a T20I series defeat at the hands of England with one match remaining. This comes after the defending 20-over champions shockingly lost 2-0 against Ireland before their English tour.
India have not lost five consecutive games in the shortest format, making a few players’ places in the side more vulnerable than ever. However, the Men in Blue have an abundance of players in their roster to choose from should they decide to drop anyone from their current squad.
Here are 3 Indian players who should be dropped after the England series:
3. Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna has had a few excellent seasons in the Indian Premier League for the Gujarat Titans, winning the Purple Cap in 2025. The right-arm seamer, however, has not been able to bring his franchise form to international cricket. The 30-year-old has played seven T20Is in his career, taking just eight wickets at an extremely high economy rate of 11.22.
It is hard for Krishna to maintain a place in the T20 side for the long term, with India giving opportunities to Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur for their upcoming tour to Zimbabwe.
2. Washington Sundar

Yet another Gujarat Titans player on the list, Washington Sundar has had a difficult time in T20 cricket for India. Though he had a good time with the ball, taking 51 wickets from 62 matches at an economy rate of 7.12, the left-hander has struggled with the bat.
Usually coming in to bat in the lower-middle order, his overall T20I strike rate of 126.81 is not good enough for a player who comes in as a finisher. The 26-year-old does have competition for his place in the side, with Suryansh Shedge also in the squad for India’s T20I tour of Europe. The Punjab Kings youngster struck at 175.55 in the recently concluded Indian Premier League season.
1. Tilak Varma

It is bizarre to think that India’s T20I vice-captain is one of the players on the chopping block. Tilak Varma, however, has not been able to provide adequate returns with the responsibility on his shoulders. The 23-year-old has scored just 51 runs from four matches in England and has struggled in the middle overs to accelerate the scoring.
As things stand, Sanju Samson is sitting on the sidelines after being replaced by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi at the top of the order. The right-hander could replace Tilak and push Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer down a place.
