Renowned YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia has been in the headlines, however, for something rather controversial. Popularly known as “BeerBiceps”, Allahabadia was the chief guest in a recent episode of Samay Raina’s creative yet controversial show- ‘India’s Got Latent.’ Notably, Ranveer is known for asking some controversial aka weird questions on his podcast shows even before the latest controversy erupted.

For the unversed, in the recent show of India’s got latent, he came up with a rather crass and bizarre question regarding the personal life of parents and their kids’ involvement in the intimate aspects of life. However, this act of Ranveer has seemingly transpired from India’s got latent to “India’s got angry.” In the aftermath of the incident, several fans and big shots were furious at the YouTuber and demanded stringent legal action on Allahbadia. Moreover, some notable celebrities who were to appear in his podcast in the coming times ahead have cancelled their plans as a protest against one of the biggest podcasters in India.

Meanwhile, when we peep into his past podcasts, it seems quite evident that Ranveer has unceasingly asked many controversial things even to Indian cricket stars as well. Having said that, let us have a look at some controversial moments from Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast involving legendary Indian cricketers.

3. Ishant Sharma

Several Indian cricket stars have been interviewed by the Beer Biceps aka Ranveer Allahbadia. During his cricket-related podcast, he often tries to unearth some lesser-known aspects of the cricket players both on and off the field. Back in June 2023, during a podcast show, renowned Indian pacer Ishant Sharma was invited as the guest. While both the host-guest duo discussed various aspects of cricket life, one unexpected question left Sharma stumped. This happened when Ranveer brought up the segment about famous memes related to the lanky pacer.

Notably, the podcaster recalled an incident from 2014, which took place during the New Zealand and India Test match, which took place in Wellington. During that game, Brendon McCullum took a liking for whacking Indian pacers for fun. So much so that the former legendary wicketkeeper-batter was smashing even the good deliveries. At times fielders also do not support well by displaying some poor fielding efforts on the field, which makes a bowler feel disappointed and frustrated as well.

During that game, Zaheer Khan came on Ishant Sharma’s radar and was seemingly involved in a heated discussion and also hurled abuses at the senior bowling legend. However, when asked about it, the Delhi-based pacer refuted the claims saying that Zaheer Khan was such a big stalwart and he was way better than the former England pace legend, James Anderson. Hence there was no way he would ever think of behaving badly in any way ever with him.

“I had said that to myself. To this day, people don’t understand to whom I said that. I have never abused anyone who has dropped a catch. How can I say that to Zak? He is literally like a guru to me. I have never even thought about saying anything like that. It was just frustration because Brendon McCullum was scoring a lot of runs. There were only three fast bowlers – me, Zak and [Mohammed] Shami. After almost every four overs, we had to bowl again and the wicket was very flat. I was just letting out my frustration on myself,” said Sharma on Allahbadia’s podcast.

2. Yuvraj Singh

Among many notable Indian cricket personalities invited to the YouTuber’s show, the former legendary India all rounder Yuvraj Singh was also invited. In a candid tete-tete, Ranveer Allahbadia started probing about some lesser-known sides of the prolific cricketer. The questions ranged from his relationship issues with his father to on-field incidents.

However, the podcast show took a wild turn when Yuvraj Singh was left amused and off guard by the way Ranveer Allahbadia was showering him with all the praises. While doing so, at one point, Yuvraj felt that the podcaster was going overboard while praising him way too much than needed. As a result, in his usual yet playful no-holds-barred attitude, the former world champion darted back at Ranveer, thereby leaving him stumped instead by asking about his s*xual orientation. Notably, this interview took place nearly a year back.

“You are straight right,” Yuvraj asked Ranveer while he was still praising him.

“I am the most straight guy you will ever meet,” Ranveer replied.

However, Yuvraj came back with an epic counter reply for the podcaster.

“Lagg toh nahi raha,” Yuvraj concluded before the duo ended up in a burst of laughter.

1. Abhishek Nayar

While several famous batters and bowlers have participated in TRS aka The Ranveer Show, Ranveer Allahbadia came up with the idea of inviting the Indian supporting coaching staff to his show as well. As a result, the former India cricketer and current assistant coach Abhishek Nayar too was invited to talk about cricket and related aspects of the game. However, Ranveer Allahbadia left Nayar bamboozled with one of the most controversial questions the podcaster has ever asked a guest. Notably, this podcast took place a month later after the Kolkata Knight Riders clinched the IPL 2024 title, when Nayar was their assistant coach in June, last year.

While cricket is at the forefront usually in a sports-specific podcast, where the champion mentality of famous athletes is explored and the overall intrigue around their life away from the game, an unusual yet controversial open-ended question caught Nayar off guard. Ranveer did not hold back from asking the former India cricketer about the s*x life of Indian cricketers. Interestingly, Abhishek Nayar was so baffled at this question that he ended up asking Allahbadia whether he was curious about the positive or negative side of this unusual question darted at him.

“Are you asking this in a positive way or a negative way? You have asked a very open-ended question. It will happen. Which human being will survive without it? But is it good or bad? Is that your question? Or is your question ‘kitna hota hai?,” Nayar said on the TRS podcast.

“I want to answer this, but I want to see what your answer is with me telling,” Ranveer interrupted during the discussion.

“It’s normal for anyone to do it. It’s different for everybody. There is this constant fight and conundrum in every cricketer’s mind. Some people will like it, some will abstain. Some cricketers do believe that their power and focus tend to improve if they don’t have sex, while others follow that and end up concluding that nothing has changed for them. So, this is a very individual thing. There is no thumb rule. The fact is, at different phases in life, different things work. No one is desperate, but sometimes there is so much pressure that you want to chill,” Nayar concluded.
