भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह का 26 दिसंबर 2024 को 92 साल की उम्र में निधन हुआ। वह लंबे समय से स्वास्थय संबंधी समस्याओं से जूझ रहे थे। उनका जन्म 26 सितंबर, 1932 को गाह (पाकिस्तान) में हुआ था। वह प्रधानमंत्री बनने वाले पहले सिख थे और जवाहरलाल नेहरू के बाद कार्यकाल पूरा करने के बाद दोबारा चुने जाने वाले पहले नेता थे। क्रिकेट जगत के खिलाड़ियों ने सोशल मीडिया पर उनके निधन को लेकर शोक व्यक्त किया है।

भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम इस वक्त मेलबर्न में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ टेस्ट मैच खेल रही है। खिलाड़ियों ने डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह को श्रद्धांजलि देते हुए हाथ में काली पट्टी पहनी है। बता दें, डॉ. सिंह ने 2004 से 2014 तक लगातार दो कार्यकालों के लिए भारत के 13वें प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में काम किया, और कांग्रेस के नेतृत्व वाली (UPA) सरकार का भी नेतृत्व किया।

देश के सर्वोच्च राजनीतिक पद को संभालने से पहले, वे प्रधानमंत्री पीवी नरसिम्हा राव के कार्यकाल में वित्त मंत्री थे। 1991 में इसी कार्यकाल के दौरान डॉ. सिंह ने ग्राउंडब्रेकिंग ईकोनॉमिक रिफॉर्म्स पेश किए, जिसने भारत की दिशा बदल दी, और देश को दिवालियापन के करीब से निकाला।

मनमोहन सिंह के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त करते हुए पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेटर हरभजन सिंह ने सोशल मीडिया पर लिखा,

“पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री, सज्जन व्यक्ति और दूरदर्शी नेता डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह जी के आकस्मिक निधन की खबर सुनकर बहुत दुःख हुआ। संकट के समय में उनका शांत और स्थिर नेतृत्व, जटिल राजनीतिक परिदृश्यों को संभालने की उनकी क्षमता और भारत की क्षमता में उनका अटूट विश्वास ही उन्हें सबसे अलग बनाता था। देश डॉ. साहब को उनके योगदान के लिए हमेशा याद रखेगा। उनके परिवार और रिश्तेदारों के प्रति मेरी गहरी संवेदनाएं। सतनाम वाहेगुरु”

पूर्व भारतीय खिलाड़ी इरफान पठान ने लिखा,

“भारत और इसकी इकॉनमी डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह जी के उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए हमेशा उनकी ऋणी रहेगी। उनकी आत्मा को शांति मिले। उनके परिवार के प्रति संवेदनाएं।”
