Hennessy saw the first red card of the World Cup

Hennessy became the first footballer to see a red card in this World Cup. The Wales goalkeeper was shown a red card for a foul on an opposition player in Friday’s match against Iran. He got into a collision with the opponent’s player by hitting unfairly outside his boundary.

In the 86th minute of the match, Iran’s forward Mehdi Taremi tried to grab the ball slightly outside the D box of Wales. Hennessey left the goal post and came out of the D box. While doing a flying kick there, his kick hits Taremi in the jaw. The referee immediately showed the Wales goalkeeper a yellow card in this incident.

However, the referee did not stop with only a yellow card for this serious crime. Take the help of Video Assistant Referee (VAR). After that, Heseni was shown a red card by the referee.
