Afghanistan Tour of Ireland 2026 | IRE vs AFG Match Prediction | 4th ODI – Who Will Win Ireland vs Afghanistan Match?

Ireland vs Afghanistan – 4th ODI

The 4th ODI of the Afghanistan tour of Ireland 2026 will see Ireland take on Afghanistan on Wednesday, August 12, at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Stormont, Belfast. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:45 AM local time (9:45 AM GMT / 3:15 PM IST). The official schedule confirms Belfast as the venue for the fourth match of the five-ODI series.

Ireland will look to produce a much stronger batting performance after falling behind in the series. Their batting options include captain Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Ben Calitz and Cade Carmichael. Stirling remains an important player at the top because of his ability to score quickly, while Balbirnie and Tector can provide greater stability through the top and middle order. Lorcan Tucker adds another experienced option and can increase the scoring rate once settled. Ireland’s listed squad also includes Curtis Campher, George Dockrell and several younger players.

Ireland’s all-round department contains Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Mark Adair and Andrew McBrine. Campher gives the side useful flexibility with both bat and ball, while Dockrell offers experience and the ability to contribute through the middle overs. McBrine’s spin could become particularly important if the Belfast surface again rewards disciplined slower bowling.

The Irish bowling attack features Mark Adair, Liam McCarthy, Byron McDonough, Gavin Hoey and Andrew McBrine among the available options. Their biggest challenge will be taking early wickets against Afghanistan’s powerful top order. Ireland managed to bring themselves back into the third ODI after Afghanistan had initially controlled the chase, but they were unable to finish the job.

Afghanistan enter the fourth ODI with considerable confidence. Their batting lineup includes Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal, captain Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi and Darwish Rasooli. Gurbaz was particularly important in the third ODI, scoring 71 and laying the foundation for Afghanistan’s successful chase. Ibrahim Zadran had also scored 84 in Afghanistan’s 92-run victory in the second ODI.

Afghanistan’s all-round strength is one of their major advantages. Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan provide valuable contributions in both departments. Rashid has already played a decisive role in this series, taking 6/34 in the second ODI before producing 3/44 and an unbeaten 37 in the third match. His ability to influence the game with both bat and ball makes him one of Afghanistan’s biggest match-winners.

Their bowling attack includes Rashid Khan, AM Ghazanfar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Yamin Ahmadzai, Mohammad Saleem Safi, Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi and Azmatullah Omarzai. Rashid and Ghazanfar provide high-quality spin, while Farooqi and Ahmadzai can challenge Ireland with the new ball. In the third ODI, Rashid and Ghazanfar took three wickets each, while Ahmadzai claimed two as Ireland were dismissed for just over 200.

The third ODI at the same Belfast venue showed that bowlers can remain involved throughout the innings. Ireland were bowled out for 207, while Afghanistan needed 44.5 overs and lost seven wickets during the chase. That result suggests patience and strike rotation could be just as important as aggressive batting in the fourth ODI. A first-innings score of around 240-260 runs could be competitive if the pitch again provides assistance to the bowlers.

Afghanistan hold the momentum going into this match. The first ODI was abandoned because of rain, but Afghanistan won the second ODI by 92 runs and followed it with a three-wicket victory in Belfast to establish a 2-0 series lead.

Ireland still have experienced players such as Stirling, Tector, Adair and Campher who can make the fourth ODI competitive. However, Afghanistan currently look stronger because of their in-form top order, deeper spin attack and the exceptional impact of Rashid Khan. Ireland will need early wickets and a much more substantial batting total to stop Afghanistan from extending their advantage.

Expert Prediction: Ireland have 38% chance and Afghanistan have 62% winning chance.
