A new-look Southern Brave side play their opening game of The Hundred 2026 against the Welsh Fire at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday, July 22. Both sides will be looking to kickstart the new season with a win after assembling strong squads during the inaugural auction earlier this year.

The Southern Brave, captained by Chris Jordan, bolster a squad filled with England white-ball stars. These include Jofra Archer, Luke Wood and Adil Rashid, who would be supported by overseas players such as Tristan Stubbs, David Miller and Marcus Stoinis. 

The Welsh Fire, on the other hand, spent huge sums of money to secure the services of last season’s Player of the Tournament, Jordan Cox, and England star Joe Root. The Cardiff-based side will be captained by fellow Welshman Phil Salt, forming a great top-order batting core comprising English players. The bowling, meanwhile, would be taken care of by the likes of Chris Woakes, Sam Cook, Lockie Ferguson and Marco Jansen.

The Rose Bowl offers balanced conditions for batters and bowlers. The close proximity to the sea offers swing to the new-ball bowlers, but once negated by the batting side, they can score runs freely.
